Coolabi’s has found an American home for its series Poppy Cat on The Sprout.
The network, which reaches more than 50 million households in the United States, picked up the rights to the 52 11-minute episodes and will begin airing the show later this year.
Poppy Cat is based on the best-selling Macmillan children’s book series by Lara Jones. The series is co-produced by Coolabi’s television production arm Coolabi Productions and the Emmy shortlisted and BAFTA award-winning King Rollo Films.
“Securing an American broadcast deal for a U.K.-produced show is notoriously difficult, but clinching the deal before the show has even aired in the U.K. is a real coup for Coolabi,” says Michael Dee, director of content at Coolabi.” Sprout is the ideal home for Poppy Cat in the U.S. and we are excited to bring this new pre-school property to new audiences as the show rolls out globally this year.”
In other territories, Poppy Cat will launch in the United Kingdom in May on Nick Jr. U.K. and has been presold to Nick Jr. Australia, RTE Ireland, YLE Finland, TV2 Norway and TVO, SCN and Knowledge Network in Canada.
