Class-key Chew-po Sneezes Up New Name

As of Jan. 1, animation studio Klasky Csupo’s commercial division, class-key chew-po, has become ka-chew!. The new banner will incorporate the company’s animation, live-action and broadcast design operations.

Creative director John Andrews continues to oversee animation, while Paul Babb remains exec. producer of live action and Sam Schoemann leads the broadcast design team.

While Klasky Csupo is best known for its 2D work on the Nickelodeon hits Rugrats, The Wild Thornberrys and All Grown Up, The Animated Commercials division also focuses also on CG, stop-motion and mixed media. The group has completed animated spots for Post Cereals, General Mills, Bratz, Kraft, Burger King, Kellogg, McDonalds and Nickelodeon, Earthlink, Budweiser, Taster Choice, Land’s End, Mentos and Liquid Joy. Recent work includes spots for Minute Maid, Bang!, Chuck E. Cheese and Keebler.

The company’s Broadcast Design crew produced the opening title sequences for MTV’s Punk’d and The Osbournes, and recently received an Emmy nomination for the animated show opening for The Anna Nicole Show. The division is currently wrapping up a redesign package for Nicktoons.
