Nelvana’s new CG animated series Babar and the Adventures of Badou will air next year on Germany’s KI.KA.

The 26-episode series, based on the classic children’s book character created in 1931 by Jean de Brunhoff, is aimed at kids 4-7 and updates the concept to include King Babar’s grandson, Badou, and his friends.

The series already has been told to YTV in Canada, which will debut it in November, and also will air on TFI in France, Playhouse Disney Japan, Disney Channel in Italy and Spain, ABC TV in Australia, TV2 in Norway, YLE 2 in Finland, DR TV in Denmark, Thai PBS, SRC for French Canada and M-Net in South Africa.

The series is a co-production between Nelvana and France’s TeamTO, in association with The Clifford Ross Co.
