CAOZ, a design and new media agency in Reykjavik, Iceland, is in development on a 26×5 series based on its CG short The Lost Little Caterpillar. The 26-min. animated special premiered late August of this year, setting a local box office record for a short film during its five-week run.
The Lost Little Caterpillar has also been nominated for three EDDA awards by the Icelandic film and TV academy. It will be competing in the categories of Best Short Film, Best Direction and Best Artistic Direction during the ceremonies to be held Nov. 10.
Gunnar Karlsson, founder and director of animation for Skripo, brought the project to CAOZ when he joined the operation at its formation. He had been developing it with his wife, Ólöf Nordal as producer.
Written by children’s author Friôrik Erlingsson, The Lost Little Caterpillar follows the journey of a fragile insect who opens his eyes for the first time to find a strange and beautiful world filled with interesting characters.
The series is slated for a 2004 roll-out. The trailer can be downloaded at www.thecaterpillar.com.
