Cartoon Network Unleashes Giant Robot Week

Giant robots have been a staple of animé from the start. Now Cartoon Network is set to kick off its first Giant Robot Week on Monday, Feb. 24. For a solid hour from 4:00-5:00 p.m. (ET, PT) each day, the network’s Toonami block will feature action anime series in which huge fighting machines take center stage.

Offerings will include the series Dai-Guard and Nadesico, which have never before been seen on TV in the U.S., as well as Evangelion andRobotech. Other highlights will be segments from the classic series Gigantor and Cartoon Network’s first original giant robotshort, Lowbrow.

Giant Robot Week will conclude with a special presentation of Brad Bird’s acclaimed animated feature The Iron Giant on Friday, Feb. 28, at 8:00 p.m. (ET, PT).
