Cartoon Network Steps Up Production Slate in Europe

Cartoon Network U.K. has commissioned two new pilots My Best Fiend and Good Kid Bad Kid, scheduled to be ready by the end of the year. This is the latest addition to the company’s production slate in Europe, which also includes the new 26-part half-hour animated series Robot Boy, a coproduction of Cartoon Network Europe, Alphanim and Cartoon Network U.S.

Created by Stu Connolly and Pete Candeland (director of the Gorillaz music videos) My Best Fiend tells the story of a student exchange program, where one of the kids just happens to be the son of the Overlord of the Underworld.

Good Kid Bad Kid, created by British designers/animators Chris Garbutt and Dave Needham, and produced at Richard Purdum Prods., centers on the conflict between two diametrically opposed brothers forced to get along up by their fed-up dad.

In addition, Cartoon Network Europe is co-producing a second series of BAFTA Award-nominated The Cramp Twins with TV Loonland at Telemagination. The series has been a hit on Cartoon Network’s European channels as well as CBBC, and has been sold to more than 50 TV stations worldwide.
