Cartoon Network Celebrates Toon Tunes
To recognize the important role that music has played in animation over the years, Cartoon Network will air Greatest Musical Moments on Friday, March 7, at 8 p.m. (ET, PT). The hour-long special will highlight more than 30 cartoons and the most memorable melodies in animation history.
The musical retrospective will cover the gamut from the earliest Warner Bros. offerings like I Love to Singa through modern efforts like Sensitive Male from Johnny Bravo. Also included are Bugs Bunny’s two operatic turns, What’s Opera, Doc? and Rabbit of Seville. Fellow Warner Bros. stars Daffy Duck, Sylvester, Porky Pig and Michigan J. Frog will get into the act, as will Tom & Jerry with their Oscar-winning Cat Concerto and Popeye with his Me Musical Nephews. These and other cartoons will be aired in their entirety.
Also look for appearances by Droopy, The Powerpuff Girls, the Hillbilly Bears, The Flintstones, The Jetsons and Magilla Gorilla.
Encore presentations will air Saturday, March 8, at 5:00 p.m. (ET, PT) and Sunday, March 9, at 10:00 a.m. (ET, PT).
