U.K. indie shop Calon will be taking six animated projects to the international content market MIPCOM this October. The company recently regained the rights to its back catalogue from S4C International and will be looking for international commercial sales for its award-winning animation as well as unveiling their latest exciting projects in development.
Calon’s six projects are:
Buzzy Bee. A 13 x 5 preschool co-pro with New Zealand’s Lion Rock, about the adventures of famous Kiki kids character.
Igam OGam. This 26 x 10 stop-motion show follows the prehistoric adventures of a curious cavegirl and her friends. Narrated by Ruth Jones (Gavin and Stacey).
Sali Mali. A Welsh girl and her mischievous pet bird named Jack Daw star in this charming 52 x 5 toon, which is based on popular books by Mary Vaughan Jones. Rhys Ifans narrates. U.K.’s Channel 4 will air the series.
PSI-5. This 52 X 10 show is a sci-fi animated series aimed at the pre-teen market. It ‘features four kids with the sixth sense and one pet with no sense who travel the universe in a gothic-style rocket ship, rounding up ghosts on the run.’
Hana’s Helpline. This award-winning (52 x 10) preschool show, which has already been shown in 25 countries, centers on an aunt duck, who runs a phoneline to help her friends deal with typical problems faced by kids.
Princess and the Goblin. Described as the first Welsh animated feature, this fantasy centers on Princess Irene and her friend Curdie’s battles with the Goblin King and Queen and their evil son Prince Froglip. Features the voices of Joss Ackland, Rick Mayal and Claire Bloom.
