Toronto-based content distributor and producer Breakthrough Entertainment has optioned Wandering Wenda & Friends, the critically acclaimed children’s book series written by celebrated Canadian author Margaret Atwood, for development as an animated series for preschoolers.

“Margaret Atwood is celebrated worldwide for her extensive portfolio of award-winning children’s literary works,” says Joan Lambur, Breakthrough’s exec producer of animation, live action, family and children’s programming. “We look forward to developing Margaret Atwood’s extraordinary children’s books into an exciting preschool television series. Breakthrough Entertainment is proud to have forged our production association with a true Canadian children’s entertainment icon.”

Atwood is the award-winning author of more than 40 books of fiction, poetry, and critical essays, including bestselling novels such as Cat’s Eye, The Handmaid’s Tale, Alias Grace, The Blind Assassin, Oryx and Crake and The Year of the Flood.
