Boomerang Flies to Italy

May 19, 2003 by Ryan Ball divider image

Cartoon Network hopes to follow the U.K. and France success of its classic toon channel, Boomerang, with a July 1 launch on Sky Italia in Italy. Boomerang will join the line up with a schedule of classics including Tom and Jerry, Yogi Bear, The Flintstones, Popeye and The Pink Panther. The cabler launched on the TPS platform in France in April.

Since launching less than three years ago, Boomerang has seen its U.K. ratings overtake more established outlets like the Disney Channel and Fox Kids amongst kids 4-15. The channel is available on digital satellite and cable in the U.K. and is operated by Turner Broadcasting System Europe Limited, an AOL Time Warner Company.
