Boogiepop Phantom to Menace Tech TV

The anime series Boogiepop Phantom will join Tech TV’s Anime Unleashed block on July 28. Set to air Monday through Thursday at 12:00 a.m. (E.T.), the show is based on the original novel by Kadono Kouhei and is directed by Watanabe Takashi with animation by Mad House.

Composed of 12 episodes, Boogiepop Phantom has often been compared to Serial Experiments Lain in animation style and story composition. The psycho-thriller follows the individual stories of 12 different characters and how their lives have been affected by a string of grisly murders that occurred five years prior.

Although each episode can be viewed individually, each contains small clues to the mysterious circumstances of the earlier murders. Only when the series is viewed as a whole can the watcher piece together the greater underlying mystery.
