Spanish animation company Black Maria has taken on Yenny: The Animated Series, a new comedy-adventure show for teens that began life seven years ago as a series of comic strips distributed by Universal Press Syndicate. An eight-issue Yenny miniseries was printed and published by Alias Enterprises in the American market as well. Creator David Alvarez is working with the creative directors at Black Maria in developing the animated series.
The series will follow original storylines from the comic strips about a buxom, big-footed boricua girl. Black Maria plans to assemble a team of experienced writers, both American and European, to work under the supervision of Alvarez and producer/director Fernando Carrion.
Black Maria is looking for co-production partners and investors for the project, which it hopes to get into production by this fall. The show’s website is scheduled to launch in the next few weeks, offering production details, information about the series and its characters, and a Flash games gallery.
