The Berenstain Bears, a favorite in the world of children’s literature for the past 40 years, is coming to PBS KIDS with a 15-minute animated series produced by Corus Ent.’s Nelvana. Each episode of the new weekday series follows the storyline of an original The Berenstain Bears book. The show will premiere on Monday, Jan. 6, 2003.
The Berenstain Bears was created by the author/illustrator team of Stan and Jan Berenstain, who drew from their own experiences to impart life lessons and promote family values. The franchise has even become a family business, with sons Leo and Michael Berenstain now part of the act.
Joining The Berenstain Bears to complete the half-hour are all-new 15-minute episodes of Maurice Sendak’s (Where the Wild Things Are) Seven Little Monsters, also produced by Nelvana. The series follows the misadventures of seven “little” monsters, who are actually more than 10 feet tall, as they confront life’s challenges and work together as a family.
