BBC Worldwide children’s properties are branching out as more than 100 hours of programming get licensed to major European broadcasters at MIP-TV in Cannes. NRK in Norway, ERT in Greece and RAI in Italy are the latest to pick up popular BBC offerings.
NRK has licensed the preschool show The Fimbles, which had previously been picked up by ABC in Australia, TVB in Hong Kong, BBC Kids in Canada, MNET in South Africa, RTE in Ireland and RTP in Portugal. Negotiations are taking place with broadcasters in the U.S., France, Italy, Spain and Korea.
ERT acquired 135 episodes of Tweenies, 100 installments of Teletubbies and 52 episodes of Andy Pandy. The shows will join the network’s BBC Playtime lineup.
Finally, RAI will bring 26 episodes of Angelmouse and the preschool series Binka to young viewers in Italy.
