Animation Studio Finds Opportunities O’Plenty Outside of Hollywood

O’Plenty Animation Studio proves you don’t have to put roots down in Hollywood to be successful. Founded in 1995 by CalArts graduate Chris Larson, the company has set up a new, state-of-the-art studio in Point Pleasant, NJ. In addition to Larson’s own extensive Hollywood experience, the studio now boasts the talents of two renowned animation and entertainment pros. Oscar-nominated George Davis now heads up the camera department and Emmy winner Matt Hamilton has come aboard as digital compositor and digital background artist.

Davis, a seasoned animation cameraman with more than 40 years of experience, has won two Emmys and has been nominated for two Oscars, among other accolades. Perhaps best known for his work on the classic ABC series Schoolhouse Rock, he headed up the camera department at TerryToons. There he worked on such classics as Mighty Mouse, Heckle & Jeckle, and Captain Kangaroo‘s Tom Terrific. He has shot and directed numerous commercials for clients such as Pepsi, Dodge and Disney.

Hamilton graduated from the CalArts Character Animation program and went on to work on the The Simpsons during its early seasons, receiving an Emmy during the show’s second season. Other projects include Fox’s Futurama.
