Adult Swim Draws Blood +

Cartoon Network’s [adult swim] has acquired a taste for Blood +, the new anim’ series based on the popular feature film Blood: The Last Vampire. Produced by Aniplex Inc., in association with Sony Pictures Television, the half-hour action- and suspense-filled drama from exec producers Hideo Katsumata and Mitsuhisa Ishikawa features music from Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer and is set to premiere on Saturday, March 10, at 12:30 a.m. (ET/PT).

Though high school senior Saya Otonashi has trouble remembering anything that happened prior to one year ago, she leads a happy life with her adoptive family. That all changes when she and her brother are attacked by a blood-sucking vampire called a ‘chiropteran,’ and Saya soon discovers that she is the only one who can defeat an evil that has plagued Japan for centuries.

Blood Plus is directed by Junichi Fujisaku (Ghost in the Shell) and produced by animation studio Production I.G (Blood the Last Vampire, Ghost in the Shell). Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) picked up the television and home video rights for Asia (outside of Japan), Latin America, North America, Australia and New Zealand shortly after the show’s successful Japanese premiere in October of 2005.
