The Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood and the Visual Effects Society (VES) will host a special two-hour program on the visual effects in Disney/Pixar’s Ratatouille in November. Apurva Shah, effects supervisor at Pixar Animation Studio, will provide an in-depth shot breakdown on the visual effects employed in the hit animated feature, which is currently dominating the overseas box office. The program will kick off with a networking hour at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15 on Stage 15 at Gnomon.
Shah will discuss the unique challenges of creating visual effects for feature animated films, especially those effects that are tightly coupled to the story and performances, as is the case with the cooking in Ratatouille. In the process he will also describe some of the technical underpinnings of Pixar’s effects pipeline and shot-specific techniques.
Gnomon School of Visual Effects is located at 1015 N. Cahuenga Blvd. in Hollywood, Calif. The event is free of charge and open to the public. To RSVP, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
