Anonymous : Tuesday, October 21, 2003 I am not a huge anime fan, but I absolutely loved this sequence. I don't care what you label it, I found it gorgeous and compelling... easily the best part of the movie.
Will it whet our whistle for more? Maybe, but then all it will take is for the American audience to get duped into seeing one of the more rediculous anime films out there and they'd sour on it again.
Anonymous : Monday, October 20, 2003 Just saw KB yesterday. The animation didn't scream Anime to me, it was more like traced over live-action mixed with a little Plympton. There was just something very un-Anime about it that didn't really excite me at all.
Anonymous : Saturday, October 18, 2003 That was one of the best, if not the best parts of that movie. At first I had my douts about 2D, but that short part in Kill Bill blew me away. It was so crisp and full of emotion. The only bad part of that movie was how incredibly fake it was, it was almost like a joke at times. But most people in the theater who were not expecting any animation in a Tarantino movie, I think, were pleasantly suprised with how it fit so perfectly.
Anonymous : Thursday, October 16, 2003 Like most of ProductionIG's work, the animation in Kill Bill was gorgeous, emotional, sleek, and just cool. If you're actually under the misguided impression that "2D" is dead, just look to ProductionIG. While possibly a bit violent for some viewers, you have to consider the context of the film, and the story. It was perfectly suited, and beautifully executed.
I hope & believe that American audiences are starting to take note of, and appreciate anime. Kill Bill should help to increase the momentum.
