Do you think global TV and multi-media content markets such as MIPCOM, which takes places this week in France, are useful ways for animators to do business with buyers/producers/executives? What are your biggest gripes about these international confabs and how do you think they can be improved?

illustrator Freelancer : i am my own boss Thursday, October 08,

CEO : Atomic Cartoons Thursday, October 08, 2009 While I agree the markets are very expensive and the outcomes from many of the meetings can be vague it is part and parcel to getting a show to air. Having said that, Mip isn\'t neccesarily a gold mine for creators and independent producers. I think it is important to attend a Mip to see how it works, but it might be more cost effective and productive to work with a rep or sales agent who lives that lifestyle. Selling, schmoozing, eating rich French food and who has all the connections at the market.

Animator : www.AnimotionArts.com Thursday, October 08, 2009 For big wig producers and companies..It sure may be. But for the little guy. I mean the guy that is the real animator it\'s no good, Not in Canada. Sure we have the Ottawa animation festival but even that is so la dee da. The true creative genius\' are still to be discovered!

Sales Bitch : The Hills Are Animated Wednesday, October 07, 2009 I met one of these execs at MIPTV one year...He told me he was interested in my project. So I spend lots of time and money on it...pitched it again..He said his boss had to see it again...Before I could show the show to his boss, they both got fired...then they found jobs at another animation company...I showed it to them again..They said that wasn\'t the stuff the new company was interested. They now only want girl-skewing live-action music shows. Then they got fired again. Then I decided my chances of getting a show on the air was about as high as being a contestant on America\'s Got Talent..So I started auditioning for every reality show in town. I think I found my true calling. Thank you MIPTV, Kidscreen Summit and all the stupid executives who go to these things. You made me find my bliss.
