Question of the Week
Question for the week of September 28, 2009:

Last Sunday, FOX-TV premiered the new Family Guy spin-off series, The Cleveland Show. What was your impression of the show? Is the world ready for a kinder, gentler MacFarlane toon? Or did you think it was more of the same? What is your opinion about Fox’s Animation Domination lineup this year?

I actually appreciate McFarlane\'s style. But Cleveland is not funny, clever, etc. It\'s a bomb.

Mcfarlane\'s work shows the great decline in quality in enertainment; that this shallow, lazier, and selfish generation will continue to self destruct on. I have yet to meet anyone who has regularly engross themselves in the \"The Family Guy\" who has not exhibited any of the above undesireable traits or raised their kids like wild animals expected to learn speech, morals and compassion on their own the way a dog might? He continues call himself edgy by following the same lines of a tabloid magazine and hateful athiest . If you can\'t get enough of lame christian jokes , retarded father figures, and endless nonsense from \"The Simpsons\" and the \"New York Times\" ; then I guess we really needed the family guy.

I\'m glad to see I\'m not the only one who doesn\'t care much for the wave of McFarlane shows. Pity the American audience is so dumbed down it takes that crap. Notice that he gets most of his laughs by riffin on celebrities. Can he even think up an original joke?

Even safe family humor cartoons can have an edge and appeal. Unfortunately The Cleveland show had neither IMO. The work was uninspired, the storyline\'s attempt at social relevancy was a waste of time, and by removing the adult stings it was left as a pointless exercise in \"everyman\" scriptwriting. Scrap it and go back to the studio to brainstorm something new and original.

i\'ll be very happy the day I turn on the TV and there will be no more shows created or exec produced by Seth MacFarlane. He\'s like a bad disease that has taken over Sunday night TV. Makes me long for the days that Futurama and King of the Hill were airing. Sigh.

Animation Domination should be called The McFarlane Block since 3 out of the 4 are by Mr. McFarlane. His recent work, The Cleveland Show, was kinda on the safe side which caught me off guard. I personally didn\'t like the debut pilot overall, but some of it was comedic.

Cleveland was more overhyped Macfarlane nonsense. It wasnt all that funny or original. Family Guy has become unwatcheable, and American Dad never was worth tuning into. I know the ratings say otherwise, but its how I feel. Really wish Fox would look for some new stuff for its animation block.

The first episode was kinda dry as far as humor is concern. I really believe there will a lot more RACIST and STEROTYPICAL jokes in the Cleveland Show than in Family Guy.
