Question of the Week
Question for the week of May 26, 2005:

While most people agree that Revenge of the Sith is better than the last two Star Wars installments, it hasn’t won over all critics. What is your opinion of the digital animation and the film in general? Was Cartoon Network’s animated Clone Wars better?

In the movie version, General Gervious seemed to lose the ominous threatening quality found in the CN version. Also, did anyone else think Darth Vader needed to gain a few pounds; he seemed a bit on the small side? The CG in the movie was great, but again like the other two previous episodes, the lines were still weak, and sadly Anakin still can’t act…sigh.

The best animation of all episodes, by far! Loved the first scene of war over Coruscant (so many spaceships!). At the end, Darth Vader’s costume and the command room of Darth Vader’s ship are a homage to Episode IV, it is a snap of the face after seing the best sci fiction animation of all times, but it gives you a good feeling, the story that you started on the 70’s now makes sense! Probably the goal of all mass media products ;)

The animation was amazing. Unfortunately it took itself way too seriously and wasn't much fun. A little hans solo is needed.

I thought that George Lucas did an incredible job. When looking back at the 1st two Star Wars films, one can really appreciate what George was trying to do. Overall, I believe that George pulled it off. The digital effects were pretty good. I believe that ILM was probably so excited about this movie, that one can really see the improvement in their work. However, I will say that I liked Cartoon Network's rendition of General Grievous, especially his fighting style. All in all, Revenge of the Sith was excellent.

Clone Wars succeeded because it didn't try and talk it's way through the story. It just told the story with great animation.

Perhaps the first two episodes in the saga weren't as good, story wise, but now that it's finally complete one can appreciate them much better. Technically, the CG is superb! Yoda looks more alive than ever (although the muppet Yoda was much funnier). The only dissapointment was Griveous. He was much cooler in Clone Wars. But I can't really compare them. The fact that Anakin got schooled at the end in EpIII makes it my favorite. ;)
