It’s a three-way tie between The Incredibles (I love superheroes and this was pitch perfect in terms of an action-packed throwdown with a lot of heart), Up (which blew me away in terms of how the story kept changing gears but had a lot of emotional resonance), and A Bug’s Life (Flik’s courage and insight gets me every time).
Honestly, I hope and pray that I can deliver stories with such heart and excitement as consistently as Pixar does. Kudos.
I have a tie as well between “Up,” “Toy Story,” and “Finding Nemo.” Pixar is so great at getting a lot of heart into their stories and making films that are truly for all ages.
I would rate Monsters.inc and Wall-e. Walle emotionaly pulls robots into our heart, while monsters concept is the best ever.
I’ve got to give it to UP for only a few more reasons than Toy Story 3.
From my perspective, UP was a complete surprise concept from the imaginations of Disney/Pixar. It covered all the bases in story telling, and then some. With the few complex character’s that UP incorporated into the film and the issue’s the film touched on ever so subtley, it is a masterpiece. The only Disney or Pixar movie that has made me cry……and 10 minutes in for that matter.
Toy Story 3 didn’t get the top spot, only because its legacy had been established and was built up on in conjunction with the first two films. Not to say that it doesn’t stand up to par with UP, because it was indeed a beautiful movie in its own familiar “reminds me of my childhood” way.
Up was new, risky, and different that came into a world that was unfamiliar to us and not a film we had been expecting or have seen before (like Toy Story).
Needless to say, All of Pixar’s animated films will hold a special place in my heart for the rest of my life, and hopefully my future children’s lives.
Wall-e was great fun because going into it, I had no idea that it was a love story, I was surprised at most every turn. I am the one person on Earth that liked Cars 1. After I found out the race action shots didn’t suck I was in the right mood for good silly story.
Toy Story is my favorite movie so all time, so its not really a fair poll since i love all those movies. Except for Cars or a bugs life. But toy story holds a special place in my heart.
