chashama FILM FESTIVAL TO PRESENT GLOBAL INTROSPECTIVE OF CROSSING CULTURES

cFF Launches New Viral Campaign Targeted To Young International Filmmakers
and College Students
New York, NY-- Highly anticipated by independent filmmakers and movie
lovers from around the world, the second annual chashama Film Festival
explores global expression through filmmaking. Festival of the Worlds is
scheduled to honor and screen provocative movies from England, Germany,
Australia, Canada, Spain, Taiwan, Norway, Italy, France, Belgium, China,
Columbia and Israel.
Among the politically charged subjects: conquering war torn politics in
Lebanon with a sports marathon; preserving children while their parents are
dying of AIDS in Africa; exposing the detrimental tyrannical antics of Bush
Administration officials in the Middle East; and the importance of food as a
vehicle to unknown cultures.
As a critical component of cFF's campaign to broaden its outreach to
younger filmmakers and patrons, the festival launched Shanece's Compass, a
blog column written by Shanece Taylor, a Recent graduate from Boston
University's College of Communication. It aims to offer a fresh perspective
to veteran moviemakers while educating the youth film community. The blog
features film previews, commentaries, interpretations and festival news.
Shanece's Compass will simultaneously be syndicated on www.chafilmfest.com,
Twitter, Facebook and MySpace.
The chashama film festival is a platform for a wide spectrum of political,
cultural and philosophical ideologies, presented in an environment designed
to foster creative and intellectual expansion. Last year's festival screened
54 films out of more than 200 submissions, and reached an audience of
approximately 500.  The chashama Film Festival will take place from October
22, 2009 to October 26, 2009 at the flagship chashama theater space, located
at 217 East 42nd Street, and other theatres to be announced. There will be
screenings Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 2am. There will be a
public opening night reception on Thursday, October 22 at 6pm. The complete
screening/venue schedule will be listed at www.chafilmfest.com.
