NYC based visual effects/conceptual design company, Manic has signed Creative Director Fran Roberts as part of its
continued growth as a leading creative brand. Fran's reputation and extensive capabilities in graphic design,
computer-generated animation, photography and visual effects will provide Manic's clients with a creative visionary
disciplined in a concept through production approach to all projects.
Roberts spearheaded design + visual effects work for Apple, Nike, Acura, Pontiac, L'Oreal, Dentyne, Toyota, AT&T, Empire
Blue Cross and Blue Shield, LensCrafters, the SciFi Channel, HotJobs.com, Chase Bank and the Financial Times among others.
He has directed and produced content for Nickelodeon, VH1, and MTV - where he supervised production of the first in-house
CGI-animated material Viacom had ever produced - and helped develop the look and lighting for the hit film Ice Age.
"We are thrilled to have Fran join Manic as creative director," noted Manic Managing Director Bob Cagliero. "Fran brings
impressive, award-winning heritage from a line of brands known for ground breaking work. His comprehensive skill set further
enables us to approach all degrees of high-end visual design and effects work and immediately emboldens Manic's presence in
the industry. Fran's passion and concept-first mindset brings strong creative leadership to an already highly talented
group of artists and designers."
Prior to joining Manic, Roberts co-founded the 3D and visual effects house Special Branch with partner Ed Manning in
2005, which eventually turned into an exclusive relationship with Manic entitled Special Branch@Manic. After a period
devoted to collaborating on independent projects as a Creative Director as well as a commercial photographer, Roberts now
assumes the comprehensive lead role as Creative Director of Manic.
"I've always enjoyed working with Manic, and teaming up with Bob (Cagliero) and leading a talented group of artists and
designers was a special opportunity," stated Roberts. "In this environment, Manic has a valuable advantage of unique,
extensive capabilities and a seasoned staff already in place. The new additions to the group will further catalyze the
creation of breathtaking, game-changing work, both for current and new clients."
