Edgy Teen Brand Partners with New Licensing Agency to Grow Cat Loving Teen Character into Total Lifestyle Brand

NEW YORK, NY, April 20, 2009--Gator Group (G8R, LLC), a full-service licensing agency offering the unique combination of seasoned licensing executives coupled with expertise in product design and manufacturing, announced today that it has been appointed global licensing agent for the popular teen brand, Emily the Strange.  Created by artist Rob Reger in 1993, Emily the Strange has become a globally beloved icon encouraging individuality and empowerment in girls of all ages.  Working in conjunction with Reger's company Cosmic Debris, home of Emily the Strange, Gator Group plans to roll out a multifaceted, global licensing program.

"We are excited to have the opportunity to work with such an original property," said Geoff Rosenhain, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, the Gator Group. "With an established footprint in pop culture and influential media channels like MTV and MySpace, Emily the Strange is an evergreen brand and empowering icon that that resonates with the core of Generation Y."

A black cat loving thirteen-year-old girl who tells the world to "Get Lost," "Be Yourself," and "Do it Yourself," Emily the Strange is the original teen brand with attitude.  The aggressive, multi-year licensing strategy for Emily the Strange will span across multiple product categories and distribution channels.  New licensing deals will include apparel, accessories, room décor, electronics and stationery.  Products will be carried in boutiques, department stores, and flagship Emily the Strange retail shops worldwide.

Reger was inspired to create Emily the Strange by a graphic he found on the bottom of a skateboard deck.  Considered the "aspirational anti-cool lifestyle brand," Emily the Strange has been the inspiration for high fashion designers including Marc Jacobs and Helmut Lang, guitar makers like Epiphone for Gibson and popular beverage maker Jones Soda.

Emily the Strange also boasts an incredible publishing history, starring in her own Dark Horse Comics comic book series, a popular gift book collection by Chronicle Books and, most recently, a highly anticipated series of teen novels from HarperCollins set to debut in June.

"Gator Group, with their forward-thinking focus and creative strategies, is the perfect partner to help us to take Emily the Strange to the next level," said Rob Reger, Founder and Creative Director of Cosmic Debris.  "We believe they can assist us in growing the brand without compromising the unique identity of Emily the Strange."

Cosmic Debris, home of Emily the Strange, has grown from a sticker and t-shirt manufacturer into a multi-million dollar design house headquartered in Berkeley, CA.  Emily has superstar fans including Rose McGowan, Christina Ricci, Jared Leto and Green Day with thousands of active fans on all social media platforms including MySpace, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.  Reger remains the creative force behind the brand.

Gator Group is also the worldwide licensing agent for renowned fashion brand Paul Frank Industries, manufactures a range of electronics accessories for Apple iPods,  iPhones and laptops, and has launched a new socially responsible soft toy line Tales 4 Tomorrow, created in partnership with Conservation International.  With Headquarters in Dana Point, California and offices in Los Angeles, Paris and Hong Kong, Gator Group staff includes a powerful senior executive team from a diverse cross-section of industries including fashion, entertainment, advertising and product development.
