NEW DEALS SIGNED FOR NGTI'S PRE-SCHOOL PIGGY PALS
- Toot & Puddle proves early ratings success -
National Geographic Television International (NGTI) today announces a raft of key new sales for its pre-school animated series Toot & Puddle (52 x 11), launched at Mipcom in 2008.
Recent deals have been finalised with France 5, Cartoon Network Spain, SVT Sweden, TVB Hong Kong, RUV Iceland and Egyptian TV. These new sales join those made previously, which include Nickelodeon in the UK, Germany, Australia and New Zealand, YLE Finland and TV2 Norway.
This delightful series has made an impressive debut: it was the highest-ever rated series premiere on Noggin in the US in November last year, and is a top rated show on commissioning broadcaster, Treehouse TV in Canada, as well as Nickelodeon Australia and Nickelodeon Germany.
Toot & Puddle follows the escapades of two very different best buddies who share a love of adventure. Toot is a young pig-on-the-go, a globe-trotting adventurer. He loves to explore and is constantly on the lookout for any new challenge or untried experience. Puddle is the backyard explorer who, although loves to travel, takes even greater pleasure in finding excitement closer to home. The show is designed to encourage exploration and adventure, both at home and afar, by piquing kids' natural curiosity about the world around them. Locations visited include Paris, Tibet, India and Tokyo....but they are equally happy playing in the mud back home in Pocket Hollow.
Toot & Puddle has been produced by Canada's Mercury Filmworks, in association with National Geographic Kids Entertainment. The series has also just been declared the clear category winner for Best Character Animation in Canada's prestigious Elan Awards.
Maurice van Sabben, president of NGTI comments: "Toot & Puddle made an impressive impact when it was launched late last year and I am delighted to say that it continues to go from strength to strength, proving extremely popular with key broadcasters and young viewers alike. With such beautiful animation and timeless stories about travel, adventure and friendship we are confident that this charming series will maintain its broad appeal for many years to come."
