Turner Ups Arnesen to Int’l Production Head
Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) Europe today announced the promotion of Finn Arnesen to the post of senior VP of original animation and acquisitions for Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Toonami throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). He will also serve as international head of program production with responsibility for all areas outside the U.S.
As international acquisitions and productions head, Arnesen will report directly to Nan Richards, president of Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) Europe; Steve Marcopoto, president of TBS Asia and Juan Carlos Urdaneta, president of TBS Latin America. For his EMEA duties, Arnesen will continue to work under Tina McCann, senior VP and general manager for Turner Entertainment Networks International.
McCann comments, “Finn is one of the original Cartoon Network Europe founders. He has been an invaluable contributor and one of the key architects of our highly successful animation brands throughout EMEA. [His] expertise in the world of animation is unrivalled in the business.”
Arnesen and his team produced the animated series, The Cramp Twins, which has been a hit for Cartoon Network and the BBC. In addition to a second season of Cramp Twins, they are in production on Robotboy with Alphanim and have developed a CG project with Aardman titled Chop Socky Chooks.
Internationally, Cartoon Network has committed $500 million over five years (2003-2007) to producing original animated programming, much of which will be developed and produced at the Cartoon Network Studios in Burbank, Calif. In his new role, Arnesen will serve as a liaison between the domestic and international markets for all original program development.
