Tim Sarnoff has stepped down from his longtime post as president of Sony Pictures Imageworks.

Sarnoff joined SPI in 1997 and has lead it to success as one of the industry’s top visual effects and animation shops ever since, reports Variety.

A Sony spokesman told the trade the Sarnoff would not be replaced. Instead, a trio of execs, including VP for production Debbie Denise, VFX supervisor Ken Ralston on the creative side, and a to-be-hired operations exec, will oversee the shop and report to Sony Pictures Digital chief Bob Osher.
