Rollman Takes Marvel Vid, TV Reins

Marvel Enterprises Inc. has hired former Fox Family and Saban Prods. president Eric Rollman as senior VP of home entertainment and TV production for Marvel Studios. The move is intended to bolster Marvel’s presence in the burgeoning home entertainment market.

Rollman’s hiring follows on the heels of Marvel’s agreement with Lions Gate Ent. to develop, produce and distribute made-for-DVD animated features based on popular characters from the Marvel Universe. In his new role, Rollman will oversee development and production of these projects. He is currently spearheading the first animated feature based on Marvel’s The Avengers, scheduled for an early 2006 release.

At Saban, Rollman headed up animated series production of Marvel properties X-Men, Ultimate Spiderman, Silver Surfer and The Avengers. He has also been involved with such popular series as Power Rangers and Digimon.

Rollman recently launched an independent production company, Rollman Ent., to consult on and develop live action and animated television, film and media projects.
