Nickelodeon Gets New President

Daily Variety reports that Cyma Zarghami has been promoted to the newly created position of president of Nickelodeon Television. Zarghami has been with the kid net for 18 years and has served as exec. VP and general manager for the past seven years.

Under Zarghami’s leadership, Nickelodeon has led ratings among all basic cable networks for more than seven consecutive years, and has remained the number-one network for kids among all broadcast and cable competition.

Zarghami, who recently oversaw the wildly successful launch of the Rugrats spinoff All Grown Up, also introduced the hit shows The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, The Fairly OddParents and Dora the Explorer, the top preschool program on commercial television. She will continue to be responsible for program production and development, as well as overall channel management including programming strategy, scheduling, promotions and on-air creative development. In addition to overseeing the day-to-day operation of Nickelodeon GAS, the first Games and Sports channel for kids, and Nicktoons, she will also head up operations for Noggin/The N.
