Kristen Buckley has been named VP of programming for Nickelodeon. Formerly director of programming, she will now be responsible for managing and maximizing Nickelodeon’s on-air inventory and will continue to report to Pete Danielsen, senior VP of programming.
In her new role, Buckley will develop strategic promotional and media plans in support of the network’s initiatives and its ancillary businesses. Her day-to-day tasks will involve partnering with the on-air creative teams on concepts for promoting series and Nickelodeon Movies. She will also develop client-driven programming and promotional stunts with the marketing and ad sales departments to build on-air events aimed at increasing ratings and supporting franchise development. In addition, Buckley will partner with production on live events such as Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards and Let’s Just Play.
Buckley joined Nickelodeon as a senior coordinator of programming. In that position, she helped launch TV Land and was the channel’s first official hire. Prior to joining the kid net, she held positions in media planning at New York advertising agency Young and Rubicam Inc.
