Bob Brassel, who has been bumped up to the post of executive VP of production at Warner Bros., is slated to oversee the development of Superman and Tim Burton’s upcoming stop-motion feature Corpse Bride, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Corpse Bride is based on an old Eastern European folktale that has been the subject of a number of storybooks and plays throughout the years. In an interview, Nightmare Before Christmas director Henry Selick told Animation Magazine Online that Burton has been working on the film for six years and that it will be produced in England. It remains to be seen if Burton will remain committed to stop-motion or make a switch to CG as he did with Mars Attacks.
Brassel began his career at Warner Bros. in 1989 and was later involved in the production of The Fugitive, Outbreak and Interview With the Vampire. After leaving for a five-year stint at DreamWorks, he returned to Warners in 2001 as a senior vp.
