Independent animation studio Mike Young Prods. expands operations with the hire of former Film Roman exec. Regis Brown and ex-Fox Family Channel director Joshua Fisher. Brown will launch the studio’s new distribution division as VP of international sales while Fisher takes the post of exec. director of development.
Brown’s distribution push will begin with sales for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe in key international territories. Other priority projects include Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks, a co-production with PBS WLIW and Entara Limited, and Pet Alien, a co-production with Antefilms for TF1.
Most recently, Brown served as VP of international television and video for Film Roman. Prior to that, he was director of international distribution for New World/Trans Atlantic, manager of technical services for MGM/Pathe Communications’ international film division and a financial analyst for Cannon Films.
Fisher will be in charge of Mike Young’s development/production slate, including proprietary productions. Prior to joining the team, he spent three years as director of development and current programming for the Fox Family Channel, where he was the executive in charge of production for What’s with Andy, Totally Spies, S Club 7 and Big Wolf on Campus and others. Before Fox Family, Fisher was manager of creative affairs for computer animation house Mainframe Ent.
Mike Young Prods. operates from a 16,000-foot studio in Woodland Hills, CA. In addition to Cartoon Network’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, the company is home to Nickelodeon’s Butt-Ugly Martians and Scholastic’s Clifford the Big Red Dog on PBS.
