Warner Bros. Animation has tapped veteran entertainment and sports communications exec Gary Miereanu as director of publicity. Miereanu will oversee all publicity activities for WBA’s properties, including all original television series and the Studios’ toon library (featuring all Looney Tunes and Hanna-Barbera shows) and work with Warner Home Video on the publicity campaigns for made-for-DVD feature releases. He will also manage the communications relationship between WBA and its other business units that distribute or license content. Miereanu also serves as WBA’s communications liaison with DC Comics. Also on the Miereanu slate is publicity for the Kids’ WB! block on The CW.
‘Gary is an experienced and talented publicity executive with a genuine love for animation and a rich background in the field,’ said Jessica Pinto, VP of Warner Bros.’ worldwide animation marketing. ‘We are excited to have him on our team and look forward to his leadership in the communications and publicity area.’ Miereanu reports report to Pinto and Magnuson, and will work closely with Sander Schwartz, president, Warner Bros. Animation, and Betsy McGowen, senior VP and general manager of Kids’ WB!
Prior to joining Warner Bros., Miereanu served as VP of communications for the Los Angeles Dodgers and director of publicity for Walt Disney Television Animation (WDTVA) and ABC Cable Networks Group. A graduate of California State University, Northridge, Miereanu began his professional career as sports editor of the Burbank Daily Review. He has worked both in-house and as a consultant for an extensive list of clients, including Siegfried & Roy, Disneyland Resorts, Sport Magazine, Prime Sports/Prime Ticket Network, Whittle Communications, Saint John’s Health Center and the Los Angeles Daily News.
