Cookie Jar Entertainment has hired longtime TV executive Tom Mazza to run the company’s new primetime label, The Jar.
As executive VP and head of worldwide TV, Mazza will manage development, production, sales, distribution, acquisitions and international co-productions. Cookie Jar, a Canada-based children’s entertainment, consumer product and education company, is developing more than a dozen scripts from top writers for The Jar.
Mazza previously was head of Columbia Tri-Star Television, which produced such TV series as Dawson’s Creek, King of Queens, Family Law, The Guardian and The Tick. Prior to that, he spent 12 years at Paramount Network Television, where he was responsible for all primetime TV development, the division’s writers roster and on-air talent.
He also co-founded MRE, which served the branded entertainment needs of broadcast TV and advertising industries.
