Jules Engel Services Set

Animators and all artists the world over are deeply saddened by the passing of Jules Engel, a distinguished artist and mentor to hundreds of students. The former Disney animation color designer and founding director of Cal Arts’ Experimental Animation program died quietly in the company of friends on Sunday evening at a Simi Valley, Calif. hospice. He was 85.

For those who wish to pay respects, services will be held on Saturday, September 13th at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Burbank, Calif. Guests should arrive by 2:30 p.m. at the Old North Church, located at 6300 Forest Lawn Drive.

In lieu of flowers, friends suggest donations to the Jules Engel Scholarship Fund at CalArts (661-253-7814) or the Jules Engel Film Preservation Project (re:Cindy Keefer at 310-433-4655).
