Veteran children’s television creator Joe D’Ambrosia has been named VP of programming for Disney Junior.

D’Ambrosia will oversee production and programming strategies, as well as creative development for entertainment and learning-based properties. Among his charges are the upcoming animated series Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Secret Agent Oso. He also will develop new series and short-form projects, including a project starring Minnie Mouse and Sofia the First, a series set in the Disney Princesses world.

“I’m excited to introduce a whole new generation to the magic of Disney storytelling,” says D’Ambrosia. “It is an honor and a privilege to create exciting new stories for such classic characters as Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck and Captain Hook, and some new characters too.”

D’Ambrosia’s experience includes work at Nickelodeon launching its family film division, Sony Pictures Family Entertainment and with Murray Hill 5 Productions, which he founded with Tom Teves and wrote and produced the Astro Boy series for Sony.
