Sam Ewing will replace Louis Fournier as head of distribution at Cookie Jar Ent., the programming and licensing arm of newly minted The Cookie Jar Group (formerly Cinar). In his new role, Ewing will oversee the company’s international sales efforts and play an instrumental role in programming acquisitions and co-productions.
Ewing previously served as VP of international co-productions and acquisitions for Saban Int’l., where he helped oversee the co-production of numerous animated series and aided in the acquisition of programming for Fox Kids Network and Fox Family Channel. Ewing has also held senior programming positions with Ruby-Spears Prods., Worldvision Ent. and Hanna-Barbera Prods. Prior to serving as VP of development at Hanna-Barbera, Ewing was director of children’s programs at NBC Ent., supervising the development and production of animated and live-action programming.
Cinar, maker of such popular animated children’s shows as Arthur, Caillou and Mona the Vampire, became Cookie Jar following its recent acquisition by an investor group led by former Nelvana execs Toper Taylor and Michael Hirsh.
