Comedian/Voiceover Actor Hackett Dies

Beloved comedian and actor Buddy Hackett, who provided the voice of Scuttle in both Little Mermaid films, passed away this week at the age of 78. His body was found in his Southern California Beach home on Monday. The cause of death has not been made public.

Born Leonard Hacker in Brooklyn, New York, the jokester went from tickling funny bones in the Katskills and Los Angeles comedy clubs to the silver screen in such films as The Music Man, It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World and The Love Bug.

His animated voiceover credits also include the 1979 Rankin/Bass musical Jack Frost, in which he played groundhog Pardon-Me-Pete, and the short-lived 1992 TV series Fish Police, in which he played Crabby.
