Renowned Australian filmmaker Yoram Gross is among five Aussie directors receiving accolades at the second annual ASDA Awards today in Sydney. Best known for bringing to life such Australian icons as Blinky Bill and Dot and the Kangaroo, Gross has also established an international reputation for adapting children’s books through animation.

Kim Dalton, head of the AFC, is presenting Gross with the ASDA animation award for “Excellence over a body of work.” ASDA president Donald Crombie comments, “In honoring Mr. Gross with an ASDA, the Directors’ organization is recognizing not only his excellence over a body of work, but that he has built a major animation business that has made landmark Australian animated films and provided inspiration and employment to younger animators.”

Having completed more than 14 feature films and 11 TV series, Gross’ Company, YORAM GROSS-EM.TV, is internationally recognized as one of Australia’s leading producers of children’s animated programming. As the company celebrates 34 years of production this year, it has four series and a TV movie currently in production.
