Imageworks Brings On Award-winning
Supervisors
Tim Sarnoff, president of Sony Pictures
Imageworks, has announced the addition of award-winning visual effects
supervisors Mark Stetson, Kevin Mack and Richard Hoover. They join
a team which already boasts an impressive roster industry pros including
Ken Ralston, John Dykstra, Rob Legato, Jerome Chen, Scott Stokdyk,
Jim Berney, Jay Redd, Carey Villegas, Sheena Duggal, Eric Armstrong
and Anthony LaMolinara.
Stetson, who is supervising the production
of visual effects for Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, won
the Academy Award and the British Academy of Film and Television
Arts (BAFTA) Award in 2002 for visual effects on The Lord of
the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. He began his career in
visual effects with Star Trek: The Motion Picture and went
on to work on such films as Blade Runner, The Right Stuff,
2010, Ghostbusters and Die Hard. He made his
debut as a visual effects supervisor on director Luc Besson's The
Fifth Element, for which he won his first BAFTA Award.
Working with director McG.; Mack
will supervise the production of visual effects for Big Fish
with director Tim Burton. The Academy Award winner (Best Visual
Effects, What Dreams May Come) supervised the effects on
Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas and continued his
creative and collaborative relationship with director Ron Howard
on the Academy Award-winning A Beautiful Mind. He also served
as digital effects art director on the Academy Award-nominated Apollo
13. Other credits include Fight Club, Vanilla Sky,
Red Corner and The Island of Dr. Moreau.
Hoover, in production on Darkness
Falls with director Jonathan Liebesman, is an Academy Award-nominated
visual effects supervisor who was associated with Dream Quest Images
and The Secret Lab for more than 10 years. Most recently, Hoover
was visual effects supervisor on Reign of Fire for director
Rob Bowman. He previously served as visual effects supervisor on
Unbreakable for director M. Night Shyamalan and Inspector
Gadget for director David Kellogg and producer Jordan Kerner.
Other credits include Armageddon, Jungle to Jungle
and Freejack.
The additions come as Imageworks
completes its most successful year to date, having created effects
for Stuart Little 2, Spider-Man, and Harry Potter
and the Sorcerer's Stone.
