Transformers’ 20th Commemorated at Comic-Con

It has been 20 years since the "robots in disguise" burst onto the scene. Now fans of the popular Transformers toy line and animated series can relive the fun with the first-ever Transformers polystone statue line from Palisades Toys. The products will be unveiled during "Previews’ night at this year’s Comic-Con Int’l in San Diego, Calif on July 16-20.

Palisades Toys and Hasbro Inc. have joined forces to introduce the line of commemorative statues based on the original action-figures. Each will stand approximately 12 inches high and will come be pre-painted.

Each statue will be numbered individually and limited to initial orders. The first in the series, Optimus Prime, will be hitting shelves in late 2003. Others will follow at four- to six-week intervals. The 2004 lineup includes Megatron, Arcee, Soundwave, Grimlock, Starscream, Wheel Jack, Shockwave and Red Alert.

The collectible statues carry a suggested retail price of $149.99. Visitors to the Palisades Toys Comic Con booth (No. 2815) at the San Diego Convention Center can get a sneak preview of the Optimus Prime prototype and other never-before seen Palisades’ prototypes. The products will be available for purchase from the Palisades’ web site at www.PalisadesToys.com, or from comic, entertainment, game and specialty retailers nationwide.
