Target Ent. Ltd. has moved into the kids and animation market, launching its new catalog at this year’s MIPCOM Jr. The retail giant, which opened a New York office earlier this year, has firmly established itself with international sales of drama projects and other formats. Partnering with CSS Stellar and its sister companies now enables Target to further its aim of evolving from a distributor into a rights-management company.
Target has already signed up major properties for its new portfolio, and is working with leading producers to exploit the brand potential of its intellectual property. Key launches include Meg and Mog, an animated children’s series adapted from the Penguin books that have sold more than 3 million copies over the past 25 years; P.E.T. Detectives, a live-action adventure-mystery series produced by Screentime Communicado, which chronicles the lives and adventures of three gifted individuals and their aunt as they wrestle with spirits and tackle extraordinary beings; and Animal School, a series produced for the BBC, in which animals attend class to learn how to behave like their parents and their parents before them.
