Barcelona-based Imira Entertainment has hired Julian Barbier as head of licensing.

Barbier joins Imira from Biplano in Spain, where he handled the licensing of major brands for clients including DreamWorks Animation, Nickelodeon and Sony Pictures.

At Imira, he will manage and develop the company’s properties in Spain and Portugal, as well as create and manage an international network of local licensing agents.

“Imira’s projects present the challenge I was looking for: developing consumer products programmes for brand new properties on an international basis,” said Barbier. “The mix of production, TV sales and licensing represent lots of potential growth and success for Imira properties in the industry. I’m proud to be part of such a great team at Imira, and believe that we will achieve great goals together.”

Imira’s slate of licensed entertainment properties includes in-house productions Lola & Virginia, Sandra, The Fairytale Detective and Saari alongside successful third party brands such as H2O:Just Add Water and The Elephant Princess.
