Sesame Workshop Takes Sagwa To Mervyn’s

Through a licensing agreement with Sesame Workshop, the Target Corporation is offering an exclusive line of merchandise based on the PBS KIDS’ series Sagwa, The Chinese Siamese Cat, at 264 Mervyn’s stores.

From January to March 2003, the retailer will feature children’s sportswear and accessories that feature the spirited and curious young cat created by author Amy Tan and illustrated by Gretchen Schields in the book Sagwa, The Chinese Siamese Cat.

The Sagwa shop will feature products such as Jerry Leigh sportswear, Wormser sleepwear, Goldberg footwear, S. IMT watches, Dan River bedding, Franco towels, Place plush and Berkshire accessories. A percentage of the proceeds of all Sagwa merchandise sold will support Sesame Workshop educational programs around the world.

Through March 31, Mervyn’s shoppers can also enter Sagwa’s Chinese New Year Celebration sweepstakes. Prizes include a $25,000 college savings bond, family trips to Washington D.C. and Sagwa products. Entries can also be made online at www.sesameworkshop.org/sagwa, or on Scholastic’s new Sagwa color and activity book shippers in stores nationwide.

Sagwa, The Chinese Siamese Cat is produced for PBS by CinéGroupe in association with Sesame Workshop.
