Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products are for the first time extending their successful consumer electronics line beyond the United States, signing deals with Linmark Group and Sakar International.
The deal will see products inspired by such Nick hits as SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego, Go!, Ni-Hao Kai-Lan and The Backyardigans debut in 59 territories, including Australia, China, France, Germany, India, Mexico, The Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom.
Products will begin going on sale in the fall. The Hong Kong-based Linmark Group will produce inexpensive products such as keychain digital photo frames, MP3 players, portable and compact DVD players, portable stereo systems, a foreign language translator, sandwich toaster and waffle maker branded with Nick characters.
Sakar International, based in New Jersey, will produce branded digital cameras and PC accessories such as webcams, video cameras, walkie talkies, DVD players and gaming accessories.
