Majesco Lends BloodRayne to Comics
Fans of Majesco’s BloodRayne video games will soon see their favorite femme fatal kicking unholy tail in other mediums. In addition to the movie announced for 2005, the property is set to make an appearance in comic-book stores. Through an exclusive agreement announced today, Echo 3 Worldwide will publish BloodRayne as a series of original, full-color, one-shot comic books.
One-shot comic books are self-contained stories that will be published on a quarterly basis. Echo 3′s first BloodRayne issue is scheduled to debut in conjunction with the release of Majesco’s BloodRayne 2 game this Halloween.
The character BloodRayne is a dhampir, a creature born from the unnatural union of vampire and human. Raised and trained to hunt supernatural evil, Rayne is blessed with the powers of a vampire but is also cursed with the unquenchable thirst for blood and a weakness to sunlight.
The BloodRayne feature film is being produced by 1st Boll Kino Beteiligungs GmbH and Brightlight Pictures Inc. Director Uwe Boll recently brought Sega’s game House of the Dead to the big screen for Artisan Ent., and is in post-production on a feature adaptation of Atari’s Alone in the Dark.
