Joester Loria Takes On Peppa Pig
Licensing and marketing gurus Debra Joester and Joanne Loria have been retained by UK-based Contender Entertainment Group to represent its award-winning pre-school property Peppa Pig. The series is scheduled to air on Cartoon Network’s Tickle U pre-school block daily, beginning this August.
"The Contender Entertainment Group has a rich and successful history in the development and distribution of quality entertainment," says Joester, president and CEO of the Joester Loria Group. "Peppa Pig is a sensational property that is packed with humor and great content, and offers tremendous licensing opportunities."
Joester Loria’s charge is to develop the domestic licensing and merchandising program for the series. Categories to be targeted include toys & games, apparel & accessories, collectibles, gifts & novelty, interactive and publishing. Product will be targeted to mid-tier and mass retailers and is expected to be available fall 2006.
"We’re confident they’ll deliver a program focusing on products that make sense and puts the essence of the brand into kid’s hands," says Richard Bridgwood, managing director, Contender Entertainment Group.
Already a hit in the U.K. where it’s broadcast on Nick Jr. and Channel’s FIVE’s milkshake block, and the number-two rated series on ABC Australia, the series has been sold in over 90 markets. Peppa Pig recently received the top award for "Best TV Series" at the Annecy Animation Festival in France. The show was also honored with three awards at the 2005 International Festival of Television Entertainment.
