Hasbro Has Swamp Gas with Shrek 2

In conjunction with the May 19 release of DreamWorks’ Shrek 2, Hasbro Inc. will launch a full line of plush toys, play sets, figures and games based on the eagerly awaited animated sequel.

Products will include Wise Crackin’ Shrek and Donkey plush dolls ($29.99) that talk, respond to certain phrases and belch. Then there’s the Play-Doh Rotten Root Canal ($9.99), which lets children play dentist by "drilling" away at Shrek’s rotting teeth. The set even comes with a dispenser for the ogre’s favorite toothpaste–bug guts. Continuing the medical theme is Milton Bradley’s Operation Shrek Game ($16.99), which has players competing to relieve Shrek of such ailments as ear wax, onion breath and humongous fungus.

When they’re done operating on Shrek, fans can get in touch with their inner ogre with a life-sized rubber Shrek facemask and electronic hands ($19.99) that release one-liners and other amusing auditory reactions with the pull of a finger. For smaller-scale fun, there’s the Far Far Away Castle micro playset ($24.99) with miniature figures of Shrek, Princess Fiona, Ogress Fiona, Puss In Boots, Giant Gingerbread Man Mongo and two knights. The larger Shrek Action-Packed Figures ($7.99) will each feature a signature action movement and a smelly attribute, such as Shrek’s garlic-scented sunflower.

Other items in Hasbro’s Shrek 2 line include Shrek, Donkey and Puss in Boots basic talking plushes, Shrek Twisted Fairy Tale Game, Shrek Monopoly Junior, Shrek’s Potions Lab and Shrek’s Swamp Snack Candy Maker.
