With the worldwide consumer products business now generating nearly $100 billion annually, it’s no wonder that entertainment companies large and small are spending more and more time on efforts to catch a piece of the action.
As a result of its own continuing growth, DIC Consumer Products, Burbank-based DIC Ent’s worldwide consumer products division, is in the middle of expanding with some key appointments and promotions.
To manage the company’s existing and new slate of properties, including Strawberry Shortcake, Madeline and newcomer Knights of the Zodiac, DIC Consumer Products has named three industry vets to new key executive positions. Vincent Marchica assumes the role of VP of creative, Kathy DeGennero has been appointed senior designer and Heather Fuscellero will serve as director of retail.
In addition, DIC has promoted Cindy Davis to VP of domestic licensing and Ryan Gagerman to exec. director of international licensing.
DIC Consumer Products properties include Strawberry Shortcake, a revival of the classic character for little girls, and Knights of the Zodiac. Projections indicate that Strawberry Shortcake will generate more than $175 million dollars in first year sales and plans are in the works to launch her internationally.
DIC recently announced a collaboration with Stan Lees POW! Entertainment to create a brand new slate of animated properties under the Stan Lee Universe banner. DIC Consumer Products is currently researching potential partners for this initiative.
